Carpe is a very widely defined term. Literally ‘carpe’ means ‘to pluck or to pick’. But in Horace’s Odes and Ovid, ‘carpe’ is used in a slang way to say ‘seize’.
A more suitable direct translation is the term ‘rapere’ which means ‘to grab, to snatch’. That said there is an element of violence associated with ‘rapere’. (lol)
So all in all… “Carpe the fucken YOLO” makes me lol.
